They are one and the same. Only the name has changed. By adding Ultra-Archaea to a contaminated environment, you can speed up the rate of natural degradation and help the bioremediation process occur in days. All About Ultra-Archaea Where do they come from? Ultra-Archaea are an archaea-based collection of over one hundred different species of microbes that are cultivated from rugged environments such as undersea vents or sites where there is volcanic activity. They are then cultivated with crude oil as the only food source. Therefore they grow on thousands of organic compounds from benzene to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. 100% natural. Odors are eliminated within a few hours to a day. The result is 100% natural, fast-acting microbes that have an affinity for oil and other hydrocarbons, as well as organic waste. This specific collection of microbes (Ultra-Archaea) has not been genetically altered or engineered. (BP). The mission was to conduct tests using bioremediation products listed on the USEPA National Contingency Plan Product List (NCPPL) with weathered crude oil deposited on marsh and sands in Bay Jimmy, Louisiana. Of the ten products on the USEPA National Contingency Plan Product List (NCPPL) that were tested, the Formula used to make the Ultra-Archaea finished first. This data clearly suggested that the Ultra-Archaea have the capability to quickly degrade all hydrocarbon products and reduce or eliminate the toxic conditions of an oil spill. Ultra-Archaea Application Methods Ultra-Archaea speeds up the rate of natural degradation and helps the bioremediation process occur in days and weeks rather than months or years. Ultra-Archaea will digest hydrocarbon molecules and break them down into harmless byproducts of carbon, carbon dioxide, and lipids. Ultra-Archaea – Shakers Ultra-Archaea is housed in a bentonite clay powder that provides the slightly moist environment needed for them to live. Two sizes of shakers available for application on smaller spills or contained areas. Resealable/waterproof containers keep microbes dry/dormant until they are needed. Ultra-Archaea – Water Soluble Packets 4 oz. water-soluble packets can be thrown into oil/water separators, catch basins, grease traps, and other areas to facilitate oil and grease removal. Small size, big results — no measuring, scooping, or spreading. Simply place the entire packet into the area that needs to be cleaned. The water-soluble packet will dissolve and allow the Ultra-Archaea to spread throughout the area. Ultra-Archaea – Bulk Bags Bulk bags (25 lbs.) are available for large spills, open water applications, or frequent use areas. Keep on hand for refilling Shakers or other smaller containers or for large, unexpected spills. Provides flexibility to create a semi-permanent, high-visibility custom barrier. Has a durable, vinyl covering resists oils, coolants, and most chemicals. Cut-to-length and secure to floor with included sealant, then seal seams with the vinyl adhesive. Product Highlights Economical containment for leaks and spills around machinery and equipment - no need to build expensive cement or angle iron curbs. Additional Information The Ultra-Berm Builder is an open-cell foam that is wrapped in vinyl. PVC sidewall assemblies provide sturdy support for the containment area but are quickly lowered easy access. Great for spill containment of large quantities of drums, vehicles, frac tanks or other large containers. Product Highlights The collapsible wall model containment berm features rugged PVC sidewall assemblies for sidewall support. Simply swivel the "feet" of the PVC supports to lower or raise the sidewalls in just seconds. Rugged materials provide years of service and excellent chemical compatibility. Add the Ultra-Self Bailer to keep rainwater out of the spill containment berm. Rainwater drains from the berm passively but will automatically shut off if there is a spill. The repair kit is simply an 11” x 36” piece of matching material and instructions on how to apply it to the berm. The only other item required is an industrial heat gun. The ground tarp provides added protection from punctures or damage from beneath the Ultra-Containment Berm. Standard procedure is to sweep the area of any rocks or debris, then place the ground tarp down followed by the containment berm. For smaller standard sized berms, the 11′ x 11′ ground tarp is recommended (Part #8311). For larger berms, the general rule of thumb is to add 4′ to both the length and width dimensions of the berm. (e.g. a 16′ x 64′ ground tarp would be used for a 12′ x 60′ containment berm.) Track belts are strips of very heavy-duty material (Reinforced PVC) that lay down inside the berm. They take the wear and tear from tires of the vehicles that are driving in and out of the berms. Thereby extending the life of the product.

Versatile spill containment that can be reused and easily modified The Ultra-Containment Berm Modular Model, also known as the Gorilla Berm, can change its dimensions. By using 6-foot long coated, foam blocks for its wall structure, the Gorilla Berm can very quickly and easily be resized to other shapes and sizes to meet other requirements. The foam blocks also allow the modular model containment berm to be driven in and out of without any manual operation of the walls. The heavy-duty foam compresses to allow trucks and other vehicles to drive into the unit and quickly returns to its normal state when the weight is removed. Protect curb inlets from oil and sediment-laden stormwater runoff The Ultra-Curb Guard Plus can withstand a substantial amount of rainwater that curb inlets often receive. The heavy-duty foam inserts wedge securely into the inlet ensuring the unit stays in place. The polypropylene material is absorbent and engineered to filter large amounts of water without ponding or flooding. Any product designed to filter the water coming into one needs two important features: (1) the ability to handle large volumes of water and (2) the ability to stay in place when (1) happens. Contain silt, sediment and oil pumped out during dewatering operations Draining swampy or low-lying areas is a common occurrence in construction. Unfortunately, pumping out the water from these areas also removes a lot of dirt, silt, mud, and debris along with the water. These contaminants can cause problems if they are simply discharged into a storm drain. The Ultra-Dewatering Bag provides an economical and effective solution. By pumping water into the bag, silt, dirt, sand and other pollutants are trapped and filtered so only water escapes to the ground below or nearby storm drains. NOTE: To increase the efficiency of filtration, the bag can be placed on an aggregate or haybale bed to maximize water flow through the surface area of the bag. Ultra-Drain Guard®
Protect the water system from sediment and pollutants with Ultra-Drain Guard catch basin inserts The Ultra-Drain Guard is engineered to filter stormwater waste before it becomes a problem in the water system. As a storm drain filter, it removes contaminants like litter, sand, and oil from stormwater flow. Its geotextile fabric and easy installation make it ideal for industrial facilities, construction sites, and parking lots where stormwater runoff is likely to carry oil, eroded soil, debris, and fuel contaminants from cars. Compliance: Exceeds 80% sediment removal efficiency. Helps comply with NPDES, 40 CFR 122.26 (1999) when used as Best Management Practice in Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans. Installation: Easily installed in most drains. Simply raise the grate, place the Ultra-Drain Guard over the opening, and carefully lower the grate back in place, then pinch the fabric in place to keep it secure. The Ultra-Drain Guard has several models: Oil & Sediment Model: Removes up to .87 gallons of hydrocarbons as well as dirt, sand, and other contaminants. Oil & Sediment Plus Model: The addition of a filter strips increases oil and grease absorption by .51 gallons, offering a total capacity of 1.38 gallons of hydrocarbon removal. Trash & Debris Model: Designed specifically to catch larger items and floatables like leaves, cigarette butts, and paper goods. More recently used for capturing plastic pellets in support of programs like Operation Clean Sweep. Additional Information When new, the Ultra-Drain Guard has a flow rate of 90 gpm/ft2. However, the unit has been designed with overflow ports. These allow the Ultra-Drain Guard a flow rate of 770 gpm which will prevent any flooding or ponding during extreme rain events. Any water that goes through the overflow is essentially untreated. The amount of rainfall and the amount and type of pollutants that the unit will be exposed to, among other things will determine the Ultra-Drain Guard’s life expectancy. For this reason, we recommend inspecting the unit after each significant rain event to better understand how much each Ultra-Drain Guard will capture. We have had test units in Seattle as well as Florida that were still working effectively after more than a year after installation. This product can be reused under most circumstances. If the Ultra-Drain Guard is filled with sand, silt, and sediment, it can be removed from the drain, emptied out and replaced. Trash and debris can also be removed. The exception is if the Ultra-Drain Guard is saturated with oil, gas or other hydrocarbons and because these pollutants can be flushed out of the Ultra-Drain Guard by a major rain event, it is recommended that the units be replaced instead of reused. Usually, the most difficult part of installing an Ultra-Drain Guard is the handling of the catch basin’s grating. Depending on the area, these grates can be large and heavy and therefore a challenge to lift/move. For that reason, a second set of hands is recommended. The rest of the installation is quick and easy. The sewn in straps are used when removing a full Ultra-Drain Guard from the catch basin. BEFORE lifting the grate, the four straps should be “fished out” and brought up through the drain’s grating. A piece of rebar, steel rod or a shovel or broom handle can then be inserted through each set of straps. When the grating is lifted, the Ultra-Drain Guard will be lifted with it instead of dropping into the catch basin. Any excess material that is leftover after the grate has been put in place can be trimmed but it is certainly not required. In fact, there are a couple of reasons that leaving the extra material is beneficial. It can act as a “pre-filter” and remove some pollutants from the stormwater before they have a chance to get below the grate and into the Ultra-Drain Guard. Also, if there is a possibility that the Ultra-Drain Guard will be reused in the future, the excess material will make it much easier to be reinstalled. top spills from going down the drain The Ultra-Drain Seal is constructed with a flexible, non-absorbing material and reinforced tear-resistant mesh, the pad is designed to quickly and effectively seal a drain in an emergency. NOTE: Not intended for long-term outdoor use (more than two (2) hours), as UV exposure and/or heat for extended periods can degrade the product. Product Highlights Both sides are designed to effectively seal most drains (no top or bottom). Resists oil, water, and most aggressive chemicals, cleans with soap and water. Mesh interior is sandwiched between layers of polyurethane, which increases durability and gives it the flexibility to deform and seal off most drains. Optional Ultra-Drain Seal Wall Mount Units allow a “grab and go” response to any spill. Due to the nature of softer urethane, the physical properties of these products may change with exposure to certain environmental conditions like temperature, humidity, and UV radiation. Regular inspection of the stored product should be done to ensure it is in a usable state. Additional Information The Ultra-Drain Seal is made with urethane and will degrade/break down in extended UV exposure. It is recommended that drain seals only be exposed for as long as required to contain and clean-up a spill. Long-term outdoor use is not recommended. It is not recommended that the Ultra-Drain Seal be driven over under any circumstances. The softer nature of the material can be damaged under vehicle tires and other equipment. Typically, a standard soap and water mixture is all that is needed to clean the Ultra-Drain Seal. Once it has been cleaned it should be allowed to air dry and then returned to its original packaging. Yes, the Ultra-Drain Seal is reusable provided that it has not been exposed to a chemical that has caused any degradation. The Ultra-Drain Seal has reinforced tear-resistant mesh “sandwiched” between layers of urethane, cutting it is NOT recommended as it may cause the unit to delaminate. Yes, custom shapes and sizes are available. Please contact our customer service department for more information. For best results, use an Ultra-Drain Seal that is at least 6” larger than the outside of the grate. The Ultra-Drain Seal should be stored in a cool, dry area in the box that it is shipped in. Optional hard-plastic carrying cases that can be wall mounted or truck mounted are also available. It is important that the Ultra-Drain Seal does not touch itself because, over time, the touching areas will fuse together. This can be prevented by using the cardboard tube and plastic sheeting each unit is shipped in. ‘NR’ stands for ‘Not Recommended’. HOWEVER, it is worth noting that most chemical compatibility guides (ours included) are based on a one-year immersion test. In other words, the material being tested is completely immersed in the chemical in question. After one year, the material is removed and checked for any degradation. Needless to say, a spill response product is not going to be exposed to a chemical for a year. So it’s possible that the Ultra-Drain Seal will be effective against a spill of a chemical that is listed as ‘NR’. The best way to know for sure is to test for yourself. Easily dispense 55-gallon drums in a secure and safe working environment. Product Highlights Drum rack units keep drums slightly tilted forward to maximize dispensing. Optional dispensing shelf provides a service platform for buckets, safety cans, and other containers. Optional locator pins install in the bottom of drum rack and into grating of the pallet to keep racks from sliding and moving. They are not included. The systems are 100% polyethylene. Specialized drum loading/handling equipment is required. UltraTech does not supply or sell this equipment but it is readily available from many different material handling and industrial suppliers. All of the systems meet the regulations. Locator pins come in a 2-pack and are used to prevent the drum racks from inadvertently sliding on top of the pallet. One end of the pin slides into the base of the drum rack, the other end of the pin will go through the grating. The systems are covered by a 5-year warranty.
