Ultra-Curb Guard Plus® Plus Model
Protect curb inlets from oil and sediment-laden stormwater runoff The Ultra-Curb Guard Plus can withstand a substantial amount of rainwater that curb inlets often receive. The heavy-duty foam inserts wedge securely into the inlet ensuring the unit stays in place. The polypropylene material is absorbent and engineered to filter large amounts of water without ponding or flooding. Any product designed to filter the water coming into one needs two important features: (1) the ability to handle large volumes of water and (2) the ability to stay in place when (1) happens. In addition to the two lengths, the units can also be cut so that you can have a “custom fit”. The foam wedges that are used to keep the unit secured have some give so that they’ll fit a range of heights. If necessary, they are also perforated so that small sections can be cleanly torn off to allow a good fit in smaller inlets. We can ship up to (30) of the 36″ (p/n 9248) or 48″ (p/n 9251) units on a single, standard pallet. The shipping weight per unit for the 36″ unit is 6 lbs. (2.72 kg). The 48″ unit is 8 lbs. (3.6 kg). Freight class is 77.5. In order for a product like this to work effectively, it needs to stay in place. You don’t have to look very far to see other filtering products that have been washed away or pushed aside by the rainwater it is supposed to be filtering. The Ultra-Curb Guard’s foam inserts do an outstanding job of keeping it in place, even in the heaviest storms. Compared to other solutions (gravel bags, rolls of material, perforated PVC piping, etc.), the Ultra-Curb Guard Plus has a fairly low profile and is less likely to be damaged by street sweepers, traffic, etc. It’s also a much cleaner looking install. Ultra-Dewatering Bags® Oil & Sediment Model
Contain silt, sediment and oil pumped out during dewatering operations Draining swampy or low-lying areas is a common occurrence in construction. Unfortunately, pumping out the water from these areas also removes a lot of dirt, silt, mud, and debris along with the water. These contaminants can cause problems if they are simply discharged into a storm drain. The Ultra-Dewatering Bag provides an economical and effective solution. By pumping water into the bag, silt, dirt, sand and other pollutants are trapped and filtered so only water escapes to the ground below or nearby storm drains. NOTE: To increase the efficiency of filtration, the bag can be placed on an aggregate or haybale bed to maximize water flow through the surface area of the bag. While water will flow through a dewatering bag laying flat on the ground, it will be impeded by the solid/saturated soil it is on. By placing the bag on large aggregate or on hay bales, the water will be less restricted as it flows through the bottom layer of geotextile fabric. The maximum flow rate of the Ultra-Dewatering Bags, when new, is 500 gallons/min. When the Ultra-Dewatering Bag is full, it should be disposed of as directed by the site engineer and in accordance with any local regulations and requirements. Often times, it can simply be cut open and the contents dispersed. We can do custom sizes (and shapes). If your flow rate is not too high, you can use the attached straps to tie off the bag to the hose. If water is being discharged at a higher flow rate, a hose clamp may be required (not included). Ultra-Drain Guard®
Protect the water system from sediment and pollutants with Ultra-Drain Guard catch basin inserts The Ultra-Drain Guard is engineered to filter stormwater waste before it becomes a problem in the water system. As a storm drain filter, it removes contaminants like litter, sand, and oil from stormwater flow. Its geotextile fabric and easy installation make it ideal for industrial facilities, construction sites, and parking lots where stormwater runoff is likely to carry oil, eroded soil, debris, and fuel contaminants from cars. Compliance: Exceeds 80% sediment removal efficiency. Helps comply with NPDES, 40 CFR 122.26 (1999) when used as Best Management Practice in Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans. Installation: Easily installed in most drains. Simply raise the grate, place the Ultra-Drain Guard over the opening, and carefully lower the grate back in place, then pinch the fabric in place to keep it secure. The Ultra-Drain Guard has several models: Oil & Sediment Model: Removes up to .87 gallons of hydrocarbons as well as dirt, sand, and other contaminants. Oil & Sediment Plus Model: The addition of a filter strips increases oil and grease absorption by .51 gallons, offering a total capacity of 1.38 gallons of hydrocarbon removal. Trash & Debris Model: Designed specifically to catch larger items and floatables like leaves, cigarette butts, and paper goods. More recently used for capturing plastic pellets in support of programs like Operation Clean Sweep. Additional Information When new, the Ultra-Drain Guard has a flow rate of 90 gpm/ft2. However, the unit has been designed with overflow ports. These allow the Ultra-Drain Guard a flow rate of 770 gpm which will prevent any flooding or ponding during extreme rain events. Any water that goes through the overflow is essentially untreated. The amount of rainfall and the amount and type of pollutants that the unit will be exposed to, among other things will determine the Ultra-Drain Guard’s life expectancy. For this reason, we recommend inspecting the unit after each significant rain event to better understand how much each Ultra-Drain Guard will capture. We have had test units in Seattle as well as Florida that were still working effectively after more than a year after installation. This product can be reused under most circumstances. If the Ultra-Drain Guard is filled with sand, silt, and sediment, it can be removed from the drain, emptied out and replaced. Trash and debris can also be removed. The exception is if the Ultra-Drain Guard is saturated with oil, gas or other hydrocarbons and because these pollutants can be flushed out of the Ultra-Drain Guard by a major rain event, it is recommended that the units be replaced instead of reused. Usually, the most difficult part of installing an Ultra-Drain Guard is the handling of the catch basin’s grating. Depending on the area, these grates can be large and heavy and therefore a challenge to lift/move. For that reason, a second set of hands is recommended. The rest of the installation is quick and easy. The sewn in straps are used when removing a full Ultra-Drain Guard from the catch basin. BEFORE lifting the grate, the four straps should be “fished out” and brought up through the drain’s grating. A piece of rebar, steel rod or a shovel or broom handle can then be inserted through each set of straps. When the grating is lifted, the Ultra-Drain Guard will be lifted with it instead of dropping into the catch basin. Any excess material that is leftover after the grate has been put in place can be trimmed but it is certainly not required. In fact, there are a couple of reasons that leaving the extra material is beneficial. It can act as a “pre-filter” and remove some pollutants from the stormwater before they have a chance to get below the grate and into the Ultra-Drain Guard. Also, if there is a possibility that the Ultra-Drain Guard will be reused in the future, the excess material will make it much easier to be reinstalled. Ultra-Drain Seal®
top spills from going down the drain The Ultra-Drain Seal is constructed with a flexible, non-absorbing material and reinforced tear-resistant mesh, the pad is designed to quickly and effectively seal a drain in an emergency. NOTE: Not intended for long-term outdoor use (more than two (2) hours), as UV exposure and/or heat for extended periods can degrade the product. Product Highlights Both sides are designed to effectively seal most drains (no top or bottom). Resists oil, water, and most aggressive chemicals, cleans with soap and water. Mesh interior is sandwiched between layers of polyurethane, which increases durability and gives it the flexibility to deform and seal off most drains. Optional Ultra-Drain Seal Wall Mount Units allow a “grab and go” response to any spill. Due to the nature of softer urethane, the physical properties of these products may change with exposure to certain environmental conditions like temperature, humidity, and UV radiation. Regular inspection of the stored product should be done to ensure it is in a usable state. Additional Information The Ultra-Drain Seal is made with urethane and will degrade/break down in extended UV exposure. It is recommended that drain seals only be exposed for as long as required to contain and clean-up a spill. Long-term outdoor use is not recommended. It is not recommended that the Ultra-Drain Seal be driven over under any circumstances. The softer nature of the material can be damaged under vehicle tires and other equipment. Yes, the Ultra-Drain Seal is reusable provided that it has not been exposed to a chemical that has caused any degradation. The Ultra-Drain Seal has reinforced tear-resistant mesh “sandwiched” between layers of urethane, cutting it is NOT recommended as it may cause the unit to delaminate. Yes, custom shapes and sizes are available. Please contact our customer service department for more information. For best results, use an Ultra-Drain Seal that is at least 6” larger than the outside of the grate. The Ultra-Drain Seal should be stored in a cool, dry area in the box that it is shipped in. Optional hard-plastic carrying cases that can be wall mounted or truck mounted are also available. It is important that the Ultra-Drain Seal does not touch itself because, over time, the touching areas will fuse together. This can be prevented by using the cardboard tube and plastic sheeting each unit is shipped in. ‘NR’ stands for ‘Not Recommended’. HOWEVER, it is worth noting that most chemical compatibility guides (ours included) are based on a one-year immersion test. In other words, the material being tested is completely immersed in the chemical in question. After one year, the material is removed and checked for any degradation. Needless to say, a spill response product is not going to be exposed to a chemical for a year. So it’s possible that the Ultra-Drain Seal will be effective against a spill of a chemical that is listed as ‘NR’. The best way to know for sure is to test for yourself. Ultra-Drum Tray®
The Ultra-Drum Tray is designed for one of two things: spill containment for smaller containers (20 gallons or smaller) or a safety measure for 55-gallon drums. The 21.1-gallon capacity is not enough to meet the EPA or SPCC spill containment regulations for 55-gallon drums, but it is perfect for capturing those nuisance drips and spill that can occur in day-to-day operations. The optional grating keeps containers elevated above any spills. Product Highlights Keeps floors free of spills - designed to collect and contain drips and overflows associated with filling of 55 and 30-gallon drums. Optional bottom grate elevates drums 2 5/8" and out of spilled liquid. All-polyethylene construction will not rust or corrode. Optional dolly (Part #0417) available for easier transport/mobility. Additional Information The Ultra-Drum Tray is rotationally-molded low-density polyethylene. The Ultra-Drum Tray can be used for different things. Essentially, it is a containment device. It can be used for secondary containment for smaller containers (bottles, jugs, smaller drums, buckets, fuel cans, etc.), or as containment of nuisance leaks, drip and small spills from larger containers (Please note that the drum tray will not comply with EPA regulations for containers larger than 20-gallons.). A dolly is available (Part #0417). It is a universal dolly for several products, but is adjustable and can be sized specifically for the Ultra-Drum Tray. The Ultra-Drum Tray with grating is compliant with EPA 40 CFR 264.175 for containers that are 20-gallons or smaller. The grating in the Ultra-Drum Tray is used to elevate containers above any spilled material. As you can see from the photo in our gallery, a 55-gallon drum will fit on a drum tray. However, it is important to understand that the drum tray does not have enough containment to meet spill containment regulations and should only be used as a good housekeeping measure. It’s a great solution when traditional spill containment isn’t available or if something more portable is needed. Product Highlights Use Ultra-Filter Pads on construction sites, oil fields and other areas where spill containment is needed but shelters or structures are not available. Polyethylene and PVC construction is lightweight but durable - folds for quick and easy storage or transport. Replaceable liners quickly capture oil, grease and fuel leaks and spills. With the different filter media options available, the Ultra-Filter Sock® is the only product capable of removing many different types of pollutants. Placed in front of storm drains, the woven geotextile material allows water to flow through into the storm drain while the media inside of the unit removes pollutants. Advanced catch basin filter captures multiple pollutants Catch basin inserts (like the Ultra-Drain Guard) are very effective and work well in many applications. In known “hot spot” drains, however, something with more filtering capability may be necessary. Because these drains are more likely to encounter more concentrated contamination in stormwater, dedicated filter media can help in reducing pollutants. The Ultra-HydroKleen is considered a “true filter” by the EPA and forces water through up to three different filters before it exits into the stormwater system. How to Measure Your Post for an Ultra-Post Protector Steel pipe used for bollards is measured by the inside diameter. Therefore, the bollard’s outside diameter is 1/2″ to 5/8″ larger. To purchase the correct post sleeve: Measure exact post circumference with flat tape. Divide the circumference by 3.14 to get the diameter of the post in inches.
